differance between alloy and GRP luton bodys? + need new sprinter
I need to buy a new luton van, but no one seems to be able to tell me whats the real differance between GRP and alloy, does anyone know the benifits or disadvantages?
Also need to buy a new shape (coming out April 2006) Mercedes Sprinter, does anyone know of any good (and cheap) importers?

Alloy is aluminium (sp??) & can vary in thickness dependant on cost.
GRP is based on fibreglass & is usually the same thickness throughout dependant on manufacturer
I personally would go for GRP for the security aspects as its tougher to get through & a lot messier than aluminium(sp??)
Wouldnt waste your money on a sprinter either. Get yourself an Iveco, cheap, reliable & can be bought in any size from 2.9tonnes to 6.5tonnes

Looks like it’s a GRP then, I have already had one person tell me its best because it will outlast alloy.
The van needs to keep under 3.5 ton to avoid a tacho but cant say I will ever buy an Iveco not unless they start giving them away free! Our parcelforce driver has one and its forever going in for work on it, a rep that calls on me has one and it had to have a full engine rebuild at 125,000 as well as some sort of new suspension.
Sprinters are the most expensive but there sales speak volumes, on the M25 today I probably saw 200 vans i would say the ration was 125 sprinters,50 transits and 25 miscellaneous (DAF and Iveco, Citroen etc)
