Default Inactive tracker on your car when stolen

What would happen in the instance where your car gets stolen and the tracker has not been kept up to date - Surely the tracker company should not be allowed to withhold the whereabouts of a stolen vehicle.

Just wondered if they give the information out or you can call and register it a few minutes before it is stolen!!!

How would you know to register it before it was stolen? What are you planning?

No - Nothing dodgy - My insurance renewal is coming up and the cheapest quote I got did not require a tracker - So if I do not register what would happen if it was stolen - Would the Police demand the information - Just wondering as surely it is withholding information.

I suspect a lot depends on the tracker. If it is a Matrix / Dantrack one, I suspect they would cancel the GRPS link to it. so you' have to wait till that was re-enabled before they could find out where your car is. A radio based on like the RAC may be a different issue, but then again, if they are out of the UK or under cover they are pretty much useless anyway.
