Graded health insurance
NHS contributions should be split into 3 or 4 categories. Ranging from people that look after themselves to people that smoke, and/or have "glandular issues".
Watched a TV show last night, about fat foockers moaning about not being treated by te NHS. Ii sympathised - to a degree.
So, here's an idea. Contributions for NHS are taken on merit - like with a private insurance policy (you put an alarm on ya car, insurance goes down).
Also - if you get ill as a result of self inflicted reasons (fagging it/booze) then you are required to contribute towards treatment.
What do you lot think to that....
Should reduce a few arguments eh.

Should sportspeople get rebates as they are fitter and more healthy but then have to contribute as they get injuries etc.?
Should people who trip over contribute as they should have been looking where they were going?
Then there's people who don't have the best diets, should they contribute towards conditions related to this?
What about ex-smokers or those that don't drink anymore, which group are they planted in? What about children/relatives of smokers or those who live with smokers?
And so on.
In principle I agree that smokers should pay for their lung cancer treatment but in a way they already do in the massive amounts of tax on cigarettes.
The unhealthiest contribute the most. Fit people don't eat as much, don't smoke/drink & pay duty, more likely to run/walk/cycle than use petrol which is taxed and so on.

I'm trying to maintain the great, great institution that is the NHS and get sick of self inflicted slobs moaning they don't get treatment.
