Heck... That's a bit good I always wondered if they could fly upside down. It seems they can

Like to see someone do that with a real one

Dunno if any one here is in the RC Heli Scene, seem to remember someone posting a picture of Jamie Cole's crashed machine.

Will never forget the day when Jamie ran out of fuel upside down an inch from the ground about 2 feet in front of us both ,upside down and managed to get the thing the right way up and land perfectly without so much of breaking a sweat with his couple of grand machine.

The blades must be of a unique design surely??

i thought the lift is derived from the wing shape, which causes negative air pressure which pulls the wing up, do they have a a double wing profile to allow this in either direction?

impressive stuff

I am hovering mine now .... pretty well too

It's difficult in the lounge as there's nowhere to go and the draughts generated bounce off the furniture and knock it all over the place.

I have to admit to having a HUGE amount of fun with it ..... a week ago I couldn't lift it off straight, now I'm hovering

To be able to fly like that you need to have symetcal blades. Ie the profile is the same top and bottom, the lift is thus achieved by altering the pitch of the blade, thus you need to have collective pitch controls.

Therefore when you are upside down you create lift by having a negative pitch/angle of attack.

The blades are not as lift efficient however with the power of most modern glow engines its not really an issue.

He has done a bit alright. Looked a bit like an addled mossy at times but I like the inverted hovering. He was lucky not to hit the tail rotor on the ground though.

OK who posted the picture of my crashed machine.... I thought I had bought most of them up.... It was clearly not one of mine as I would never had crashed!!!! ;-)

Not the first time I have run out of fuel and wont be the last, my latest machine is nearly as thirsty as a Scooby with a fuel problem, it will burn a litre of fuel in about 8 minutes, and at about £25 per gallon (an american one at that) thats thirsty!!!
