Default Do you have a wall mounted plasma?

If so, where do you keep your Sky box/DVD player/VDR/Cinema controller etc?

I'm thinking about a wall mount, but would rather avoid keeping all of the above on a floor stand as it kind of defeats what I'm trying to achieve.

A friend of mine has all the cables through the wall cavity and the boxes out of sight in the bookcase several feet away....

Currently designing a cabinet to go below the screen with all the cables in the wall.

Cheer mate.

I was thinking the same but the Sky box etc will need to be visible for remote control signal etc.

Also, you'd need pretty loooooong scart leads to get it right out of sight

My mate had the same problem - he had a shef underneath to put the box etc on but it looked sh*t - he ended up gettin a unit for the TV and all the stuff - kind of defeats the point a little for a flat screen, the unit take up more space than a "fat" tv.

ahh but it doesnt, give chance to use areas in your room where you cant in other places... My front room looks twice as big now than it did before when the CRT was stuck in the corner of the room.

how about this?
http://www.atacama-audio.co.uk/equinoxplasma.htm
its not a wall mount, but it'll get as close to the wall as you like, you can add shelves and route the cables behind it. ive used the equinox range before and can vouch for the quality! kinda wish i'd gone for this myself....

bought a nice wall mounted black cabinet to go below it and put some of the boxes in there. By the way ref the infra red a company did all mine but they used these cables that attach to the red bit on the box and placed a tiny box, about 2 cm x 1/2 cm on the top of the tv to catch the infra red from the remote. That way you can hide all your boxes

We have our one on the wall.

All wires etc have been hidden and we run everything to the amp which is in a different area so the result i imagine is what you are looking for.

So everything; dvd, video, xbox is on the other side of the room.

It took a little time, effort and was very messy but sooooooooo worth it.

I love it

Have a couple of pics but my host site is not working at the mo if anyone wants to put them up for me

Yet another reason why I'll be sticking with my RPTV.

It's about the same depth as all my hi-fi separates, which are stacked up either side of it.

We may not acheive the sort of minimalist Pine&Silver Ikea look that everyone seems to be going for these days, but it looks decent enough so I don't care. Also black TVs don't reflect light, creating a border around your picture when you're watching bright scenes in the dark.

I worried at first and even turned the rad off, but i now have it on. It seems fine, i feel the bottom of the plasma every now and then and it doesnt get warm so hope its ok

I'd get rid of it as it doesnt blend in enough for my liking but the other half says NO

Supposed to burn/distort the glass/screen from what I know. thats why people say sticking them on your chumney breast only works if you take the fire place out.

The Plasma looks great, but the speakers look a bit "chunky".
Still,its a nice looking room.
(If you want to see some good flooring davegtt should post a pic of his living room)

OK, remember I was in a rush to get a picture of it sort of finished...lol so the camera's lens in dirty hence it looking like it was snowing in the room the cabling for the Plasma is in trunking now hidden nicely and we have a proper AV cabinet for the NTL box etc rather than the old TV stand

Same here re dodgy pictures, we were having the kitchen done so i thought would take a couple of shots of the lounge not realising how messy it looked

May be the angle of the shot but the speakers arent actually that large. I like them tho. The plasma only comes out about 1 1/2 inches so against it i supose they look chunky.

How big is your plasma? Looks huge!

I read that you have to be a certain distance away from the screen to reep the benefits and 42" was the largest we could have in our room to not spoil the picture, were they lying?

I dont know if you can see too well in the photo, on the right hand side we have a wall unit with all the boxes on, we had to get used to pointing the remote not at the tv!

my plasma is only 37" wanted a 42" at the time but decided to spend the budget on a better 37" rather than a poor 42".

I see the AV cabinet, it is strange although ours still actually works pointing it towards the TV as theyre only just to the left

With a 42" picture, if the feed is poor, the closer you sit too it the more the picture looks awful, further away you are less inperfections on the feed you see.

I dont see any imperfetions on our one, wish i had gone bigger probably would not have been able to afford it tho.

Mate has gone the route of a projector so has a whole wall for viewing, it looks excellent but the picture quality isnt as crystal.

We went for Panasonic, they are leading the way
