Can you remember what you used to do for entertainment and information before the internet? (in the case of pslewis, probably courier pigeons and a spinning top! )
I often think I spend far too long on the 'net and I do worry I should be out in the fresh air more!!!! I've just relocated 4000 odd miles, am starting out on the social ladder again. The 'net is now part of my social life, along with the 'phone!
It is sad.

New craze will be thinking all of the above thoughts into your Nokia (or whatever manufacturer - out of fairness) MinDReadeR TM. - and having them beamed at warp factor 9 to whomever you want.
There will of course be the usual monthly subscription, misdials, unsolicited adverts and beep-beep, beep-beep, while you're having couselling about all the voices and downloaded images in your head...
Ah, the Orwellian dream (nightmare), I love it, don't we?
Steve.

I think the net is brilliant - really 'un-isolated' NZ, can indulge in virtual world travel, actual world trading, keep in contact with mates that you wouldn't write letters to ... and locally it's made it hell easy to organise Subaru meets and cruises
so it's just an extension of social life and a lot less isolating than the old goggle box ...
