Default Your Favourite airliner ?

As one of SN's resident plane perverts, I am asking what your favourite airliner is, I like,

BAC 1-11 First Plane I went on
Tri-Star Went on Honeymoon and many other trips on these
Trident Just sums up the British Airliner

But my absolute favourite is the

Boeing 747 SP Fun Size Jumbo, superb, just looks so wrong.

747-400s, although I quite like the A340s too.

Another vote for 747-400 here. I asked some Virgin employees, pilot and ground crew, what was their fav plane. The pilots went for the big bird, as it is so easy to fly at high or low speeds. The ground crew because they reckon Boeing are much more reliable than the 'Bus.
I just love the space, wonder hw the A380 will shape up?

Concorde! I've been on the M25 a couple of times when it was coming in to Heathrow and was amazed there were no accidents - all the other drivers were looking up.

I've alway thought that if I was a gazillionaire I'd have an SP. You're right it just looks soooowrong. Jumbo wings on a shortened 747 body.

My fave has been mentioned already, the Lockheed Tristar. It was the most comfortable long haul aircraft I have flown on. I always preferred them to all the others.

BAe 146 probably my modern favourite - high wing gives good views as a passenger and the anhedral looks a bit crazy. Nice and quiet too, presumably the 4 engines are very under-stressed.

All time fav is Douglas DC-3 / C-47. I won an airfix competition when I was about 10 and got to go to Biggin Hill show and have a flight *low* over central London in this one

Learjet

Or doesn't that count?

Guess it would have to be Concorde for the sheer beauty. Though there's something beautifully wrong about the 747SP.

I used to love the Trident just because it was so noisy and smoky, too...

My favourite airliner would have to be one that got me wherever I was going in one piece.

Another vote for the 747 SP - I travelled on one to South Africa on a number of occasions.

A certain Anglo-French supersonic airliner also gets my vote..........

VC10, one of the things I liked was the badge on the control column which said "Vickers Supermarine" Lovely plane to fly with outstanding handling.

I was lucky enough to fly the 747-400 simulator at Cranebank. That was also very nice to fly and the bent beam approach into Kai Tak's southerly runway was very easy to cope with.

Concorde- shame its not still around as I would like to take advanatge of the quick flights to/from NY!

Like the 747-400s- especially on the upper deck . I think they look great.
New 787 'dreamliner' looks great too.

Not a fain of airbus- you will not be getting me on that new huge one at all (A380 is it??) . Scares the **** out of me that thing.

Bet you find a few nice things here: http://www.haebc.com/gallery/mojave/DSCN1614 (random google found link)

Anyone watch Discovery last night? Superstructures was on the Antonov AN 225

http://www.airliners.net/open.file?i...next_id=972170

it was stated on the show that with some internal modifications, ie seats, it is capable of handling 1500 passengers! Now that make the Jumbo at 450, and A380 at 550 pax, look like lightweights to me!

That's only because the flight deck is directly infront of the First Class Galley

Has to be Concorde.

My father worked on it when he worked for British Aerospace. I always wanted to buy him a ticket one day for a birthday present, but that's never going to happen now

Learjet 60.

Poped the question to the wife to be at the time at 4,000 ft over london in one when working for Bombardier Flexjet (planes maker and owner).

The force of these things taking off is amazing. Bacially old 737-200 type engines on a plane weighing the same as a ford focus ...

Fly plenty with work now and BA 777-200 being my current (love the ladies new uniform btw....much better than autie maurren style floral print!)

I've flown 777 quite a few times. Possibly just a coincidence, but the smoothest flights I've had have been in 777's. Oh, and the engines on these things are bloody enormous!
