Can anyone help please guys!!!!!!!!
Sadly on wednesday my uncle sadly passed away, he was 83 and had been ill for some time, I would love to try and find something to celebrate his life, during the war he was a co-pilot bomb aimer in a Lanacaster bomber and I would like to try and find something to remember him by, his funeral service is being held at Biggin Hill areodrome, apprantlly used by RAF fighters during the war, so something along those lines any suggestions welcome.
Cheers

Do you know what squadron he flew with? Chances are, it's disbanded by now, but MoD may have records, photos etc, as may war museum, RAF museum, etc.
Also, try a search in Google and others for your uncle's squadron: I did that for my dad, (still alive at 92), and he's now got some contacts, books, (his pic is in two of them), photos, even a painting of one of "his" Lancasters. (Which just happens to be the one in the museum, "PO S", but he has it painted as "OL Q" of 83 squadron, which it served with before going to the Australian squadron when the pathfinders got newer bombers with better bomb aiming, and better direction finding equipment. (H2S, I think it was called).)

www.squadronprints.com may be able to sort you out with a nice pic of a Lancaster.
Also, you might like to look at the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight's website
Best wishes

Get the Last Post played at the funeral/service, its extremely poigniant. My Grnadfather a veteran of both Wars had it as his and it moved everyone. A very nice way to remember his service.

Might also be worth speaking to Biggin Hill - as you correctly said, it is most famous for being a WWII RAF fighter base. Also, the Aircrew Association might be able to help with tracking down your Uncle's squadron.
