Default Bizarre question..

Another odd question from LG but you NSR lot have been pretty good in coming up with cracking answers recently!!

Having done a search on t'interweb and also looking on ebay, I'm at a loss as to where to source some items from...

Does anybody know where you can buy unused, plain paint and tobacco tins? The paint tins need to be around 5 litres or smaller in size..

It's for a little project which might be in the pipeline, and as such I won't be needing huge amounts, maybe around 10-20 of each...

Ta in advance..

Have you tried asking a paint manufacturer for the paint tins,(they must be empty at some time before they fill them!) , as for tobacco tins... flea markets, antique stores/stalls etc. Junk shops.....Or the ubiquitous skunk stalls you'll find on all markets these days.

I know that in Do It All (focus to the layperson) you can (used to be able to?) mix your own paint. They have to have tins to put it in, maybe your local focus store can help.
Worth a try anyway?

For paint tins try your local painter and decorators, or the commercial tip.

As for baccy tins, I bought 1 and smoked the contents cos I wanted the tin (I also smoke so wasn't a hardship) Know any roll up smokers, the older the better, cos tins went out of fashion with teh youngsters, but that style tins can be bought from markets quite cheap, if you can live with a pic of the 5 fingered leaf on it.

Yep, the local painter and decorator, or even B&Q or paint mixing place would have old tins. Baccy tins from the market or tabbaconist.

Just one problem with Dans idea..... the paint tins for mixing colours all come ready filled with a "base". Used own a hardware store so am speaking from experience.
