Cool Jarhead

just ben to see this film, and its brilliant, its a little like full metal jacket, but set in the first gulf war. not really any action, but some interesting sinerios(sp) friendly fire, innocent victums, cheating wives etc.

I enjoyed it, read the book a few years ago, stayed true to form generally.

An intelligent perspective from the marine.

I went to see it last night, it did it's job, it entertained me for however long it is! I'd have to say it's nothing new, doesn't push any boundaries and it's largely the same as any Vietnam film you care to mention but set in a desert. It is refreshing though to see the yanks admitting to the likes of friendly fire and some of their kit being rubbish but yet again it was another war they won on their own!

I felt they could have cut some of the macho bullsh*t (firing M60s one handed from the hip for example) and focused on some other points, it covers a lot of things but non in any great detail.

On the whole, it's a good film and is worth seeing, especially for 3 quid on Orange Wednesday

I quite liked it, its not going to win any oscars or anything but it was defiantley entertaining for a couple of hours and had some very funny moments. Wether or not i made the point it set out to achieve though im not too sure.

It's a true story based on the accounts of one man, the main character Swofford, don't know if this would make you enjoy it more, but it wasn't supposed to be a "war film" as such.....

I thought it was a good film.

Although i left it feeling quite depressed - not one to make you smile - it did have it's amusing moments

Did anyone notice some of the scenes were were similar to news stories?

Thought it was OK, if you liked it then you should also read the book 'Generation Kill' http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...928755-9349264
