Anyone living in the West Midlands..........
Specifically, Birmingham north, and the areas of Dudley, Woverhampton, Tipton, Walsall etc.
A friend is maybe going to live there. He knew I was at uni at Aston some years ago, and used to know the area, (well, Birmingham, at least), very well, having lived near the city centre (Gosta Green) and also two years near Villa Park.
I reckon it's too long ago to give him advice.
So what's it like now? He's not likely to be as central as I was, but what areas are to be avoided, and what are OK? He has his own car, but although nice, not sporty.
Any advice gratefully accepted.

Talk about abiguous location
Theres some good bits and very bad bits.
- depends on which suburb. And if the pretty housing estate backs on to a scum infested hell hole with the obvious trickle down crime as they target it for easy pickings. In general the good resdiential areas attract the crime as much as living in a scum hole.
I wouldn't say much has changed in the past 10-15 years imo. Especially the outskirts, the town centres have been cleaned up a bit, but the problems are still there. The old rule of further out of Brum (or the towns - i.e Wolvo Dudley etc.) the better, applies.

I live in wolves and if I had the chance I’d probably move to Birmingham.
Wolves is a bit drab and depressing nothing much goes on here and the whole town centre is in need of a facelift. Birmingham is more of an interesting and up and coming place that’s having money spent on it. Wolves isn’t really having much done/invested in it because as they say “you cant polish a turd”

So in conclusion if you want your friend to become a manic depressive, live with the most uncultured and backward people in the UK and pick up probably the most abrasive and thick sounding accent in the world send him the West Midlands.

Which "accent" are you on about?
There are several dialects you know. Just too many of us are too thick to differentiate between them
I suppose having the world's finest speedway riders is a bit backwards, well, moreso sideways really

Now now. Admittedly my comments were a little harsh and I do apologise if I’ve offended you. I was only making my feelings known about the place where I live. I didn’t expect everyone to agree with me.
You have to admit though nothing much happens here apart from traffic jams.
Tim.
Dudley born and Wolverhampton bred………… Unfortunately
