Any info on the IOM?
Hi
We're hoping to move house this year & I just thought tonight, what about the IOM? Does anyone have any experiences of the island please? What's it like to live there, does it have the same PC crap as we have here in the UK?

70,000 alcoholics clinging to a rock.
Its always cold, always raining, and always windy.
One day, someone will organise a bike meeting up your driveway, or a rally in your back garden. Without asking. And you won't complain.
Petrol is dear, food is dear, beer is dear, houses are dear. You could get the birch. And you have to say hello to the fairies every morning.
I love the place.

Hi Olly
I'm not sure the houses are dear in comparison with the South West, they seem quite cheap, especially around the £300k mark. I'm all in favour of the birch - as long as it's not on me! I was reading some stuff about it linked from the website.

I am a stop over, (having moved from devon) and have been here since 1996
I love the place, very quiet an peacefull, too quiet for a lot of folk but it suits me.
A grand place to live, yes down sides, but the grass is never always greener on the other side.
Houses are expensive, virtually no unemployment and you will need a work permit every year for 5 years.
Great place if you like motorsport, and NO i woudnt move back across for anything
If you fancy a skeet, i organise an annual trip across for the SIDC Manx Scoobyfest. Dates this year August 2nd to August 8th. basicly three days watching (or/and marshalling) the BRC Total Manx International Rally AND there WILL BE wrc cars here as well, and three days travelling around the island eating, drinkin, driving( not at the same time of course) treasure hunting, laser blasting, ten pin bowling all for about £850 car an 2 peeps (4star Mount Murray Hotel & Travel from & To Liverpool on the Sea cat)
You can reach me at prouse@manx.net for more details
