Go On Israel ...................
ISRAEL has drawn up secret plans for a combined air and ground attack on targets in Iran if diplomacy fails to halt the Iranian nuclear programme.
The inner cabinet of Ariel Sharon, the Israeli prime minister, gave “initial authorisation” for an attack at a private meeting last month on his ranch in the Negev desert.
Israeli forces have used a mock-up of Iran’s Natanz uranium enrichment plant in the desert to practise destroying it.
Their tactics include raids by Israel’s elite Shaldag (Kingfisher) commando unit and airstrikes by F-15 jets from 69 Squadron, using bunker-busting bombs to penetrate underground facilities.
The plans have been discussed with American officials who are said to have indicated provisionally that they would not stand in Israel’s way if all international efforts to halt Iranian nuclear projects failed.
Will they??

Would be a laugh, wouldn't it! World War III when the rest of the Arab community get involved, not to mention the US, UK, Russia and China. And considering Sharon's current state, who's controlling Isreal's nuclear arsenal?

Was it not Israel who where making nuclear weapons from a supposed power plant, and a guy called something like Hano..Hanolu.., sorry it forgets me, who revealed them. Then ran away to the UK, and lived in London. They then eventually sent a stunning Israeli blonde female to 'get-him.' Once caught they kept him in a room for 2 years with the light on, no clock, and no windows in an attempt to brain-dumb him? Its all IIRC as I saw it on the BBC about a year ago.

With current oil supplies so tight, I can't see this happening anytime soon and I'd hope that even GWB is not so stupid as to let the Israelis handle something like this.

Now, who truly knows if this is correct but on another website I was visiting it was suggested that the Iranian underground facilities were too deep for bunker busters to be effective and that tactical nuclear weapons would be necessary.
If true and any attack using nuclear happened that would be a new dimension to warfare in current times.

Apparently Sharon just died BTW, according to some newsstations. Nothing on news.bbc.co.uk yet though.

Its pretty clear they want them - one of the most oil-rich coutries in the world wants to build a nuclear power station to generate electricity?.... hmm
The president of Iran has come out with some pretty worrying statements recently we shouldnt forget.
He would like to see "Israel whipped off the map", and will have nuclear weapons soon... I can understand Israel might have an interest in stopping this weapons programme.

More little facts: if you ignore the Westbank, Israël is about 20 miles wide in some areas. The whole state is slightly smaller than New Jersey...
Not easy to drop a nuclear bomb there, and not kill many Palestinians, Jordanians, Syrians, Egyptians, etc...
Not sure that would gain Iran many friends...
