Numatic Henry
Hello folks. Mrs CC needs a new vac. Having been severely dischuffed with 2 Dysons and an expensive Panasonic I wondered if anyone here had a Numatic Henry and, if so, will it cope with dog hair?
I had one at work for years and it was marvellous, but you don't find too many dogs at a printers!!!
Any advice appreciated

Henry is a great choice.
Go forever, easy to fix if your handy with a screwdriver. Replacement motors can be had for about £15 to the trade.
The most reliable ones were the first without the windy cable. The little copper tags can break if abused but very easy to fix. I used to repair Vacs and Industrial Scrubbing machines.
Our home one is at least 10 years old and I've never used a bag either. Just shake the filter and away to go. Works perfectly.

I've got a Pneumatic Henry, it don't half stand up when I see a fit bird.......................Oh sorry, you mean Vacuum cleaners?
Vax all the way, keep the filter clean, you won't go wrong. Last for ever too. I've just junked a 25 year old one that I had thoroughly abused both here in the UK and at our French house, picking up literally tons of dust, rubble, plaster dust, shavings, turnings etc etc. Just buy a cloth bag for it to rplace the paper ones, about £5.
One motor bearing finally went, and as it was in France, I junked it and bought a South African cheapy to do the job, only cost £50.

Thanks for the tips......Alcazar I hope you are still happy with your South African cheapy.....invaluable on cold winter nights!!
I'm going to go see Henry, Miele and Vax (sounds like a cosmopolitan family!) at weekend and will choose after that.
Thanks again for all advice!

Henry is the god of vacs. But he has mates like the larger Charles etc.
Had one at home for 15 years and still hasn't gone wrong, ever. Used to be used for a long hair cat who lost hair year round, no problem (hoovered off carpet not the cat ).
Dyson and others like them ? Over priced tat if you ask me. Might be pretty but its a hoover FFS.
Cheers

I used a henry for 2 years whilst gutting / rebuilding my house. Sucked up things ranging from broken bricks, plasters, glass, metal, paint and water. Never had a bag in it, never went wrong, never stopped smiling.

henry`s are the best
most of the valeters use them for the light mini valets
i have a dyson here at home, i bought it from my parents years ago, the wheel had broken so they bought a new one
it was sitting in there loft for a few years till i finally moved out last november, put a wheel on it and........TBH i think its a pile of ****e
will replace it with a henry when funds allow, my "george" @ work gets pretty much used for 8 hours/day most days and it lasted about a year before the motor blew up easy fix , although it costs a little more as it is a wet pickup machine, a mate with a valeting site splashed out on a massive numatic wetvac that cost about £500, and when it goes wrong, it costs a hell of a lot more to fix i have seen sparks and stuff come from the hoover when its been left out in the rain ****** still smiles away

I had to decide whether to take it to be mended (where?) or buy a new one from Tesco for £20. So I did that - better than spending my saturday finding a vac repair shop.

It's not as user friendly, but it was only 20 quid so what d'you expect. It works.
Could I have got my Henry mended for 20 notes? I didn't think so, but was just guessing. Plus tesco was open at 9.30 on Monday night, which was when I needed it.
Tesco, on the other hand, can make a profit on a £20 hoover, 'cos they employ nimble-fingered asian children to knock them up ;-)

I've said it before and I'll stick by my comments. Henry rocks.
We've also just bought a Henry hound for the girlfriends house to sort the dog hairs out. Impressive bit of kit.....
