Default driving with snowchains

Evening all,

Going boarding in February, and we are driving from Gerona airport nr Barcelona, to the resort in Andorra. Now its quite likely that some of the roads higher up are going to be a bit snowy so I will need to hire snow-chains with teh cars (more expense ).
Has anybody had any experience with driving with them? Offer any tips?
How fast should you go etc...

Ta

Chris

If you have to fit them make sure you put them on the driven wheels.

Yes, by all means take a set with you. However it is very unlikely you will use them. In 15 years of going to high resorts in the Alps, I have only once encountered conditions that required chains.

I have used them in Scotland. Practice putting them on somewhere nice and dry. You don't want to try and put them on for the 1st time in the dark in a raging blizzard. Only resort to them when progress without is impossible. Drive at no more than 20 mph. Take them off as soon as you reach bare tarmac again.

Hope that helps

was actually going to hire a set with the car. Im willing to take the risk personally, but i have panicky mates who think otherwise... Works out as an extra 20 quid per car, split between 3 so i spose it aint too bad.

cheers for the advice... i defintely think i'll have a look at them and try putting them on before we leave the airport!

roll on February, cant wait to be falling on my **** repeatedly!
