Default Sending Lease Car Back

Bit of a problem,

My wife leased a car out on a 2 year plan 6 months ago, the leasing company set-up the direct debit with her bank and through a numbero f ****-ups from the leasing company (finance house) they have failed to collect payments as they ahve sent the back 'No instructions'.

The first she knew about this was when she received a letter from the finance company saying she was in default by two payments, these have now gone on her 'Experian' Credit history as two failed payments.

We are due to apply for a re-mortgage next month and this will probably go against her and we are both livid, to such a degree that we have had enough of the leasing company and want to send the car back and have nothing to do with them anymore.

to make matters worse they can not ask for the marker to be removed from 'Experian' until next Thursday as there are no managers in until then.

Are we in a position to reject the car due to teir incompetance?

P.S
Myt wife has since then been making the payment via cheque.
