Default can a home address be obtained through a home telephone number?

hi

I have recently bought a necklace for my partner of ebay, paid immidietly using paypal, on the ebay ad it stated that it would be first class recorded delivery as soon as funds were recieved. I bought it on the 20th of december so plenty of time to be sent before christmas.

the seller had 100% feedback when I purchased it, and had about 37 positives for similar items, anyway I didnt get it, I emailed them and they said we sent it on the 21st, so I said can I have the reciept you get with recorded mail.... no answer.

so I file a complaint with paypal, I get another email asking me to retract it as its been sent, so I ask again for the reciept it goes quiet again.

It was to be a christmas present so I am getting pretty pissed off by now I have just requested contact details from ebay, they have sent me a phone number and indicated which town the person resides, no address.

All I want to do is send them a snotty letter to let them know, I know where they live, so hopefully they will just send the necklace

can anyone help with this?? feel free to pm me, I dont want to do it in public, all I want is what I have paid for, or of course my money back.

I appreciate your help

Dont forget it may have been posted and the joke that is royal mail may have it still to deliver.

There is no guarentee with postage any more.

I am still waiting on a letter from a bank, I requested at about the same time as your dispatch.

I can appreciate that, but it was supposed to have been sent by recorded delivery, if it was sent like this they will have been given a reciept with a tracking number, the seller hasnt given me this, so I have to presume its just not been sent.

e-mail a few of his previous purchasers on his Feedback and see if they had problems. This may give a feel for what the seller is like, they may even have an address?? dl

Of course he may just have gone away for Christmas like people do. Which would expain why he is not answering his phone. Naughty not to have got your stuff away but nothing sinister.

Well, sounds like a cop out but why not just start a paypal chargeback, then if it really was sent recorded delivery, he can claim off the insurance if it was lost, and he must have had receipts from po, so he really has no wiggle out room, if that makes sense.

Talking

hmmm we had this before christmas as well

we bought something off ebay for a Christmas present around the 18th December, we heard nothing, the seller had good feed back etc so we thought we would leave it a couple of days. We had no email saying when they will send it no communication what so ever, so Dave got onto the web site 192.com and spent ages on there searching and by a stroke of luck we found them.

So a very nice polite email to the seller stating basically we know where you live, but in the most nicest way of course

And walla the next day we received the item Recorded delivery.

Hmmm hope you solve the problem mate, not nice when you pay for something and dont receive the goods

Good Luck

Kaz

You reckon?

That was a Tuesday and he posted it on Wednesday, Christmas day was the Sunday!!

If things are running well at the Post Office that'd be pushing it, let alone Christmas time.

Wait a little longer before you blame the seller totally. Plus, had it been an important Christmas present then you'd have ordered it earlier wouldn't you.

I reckon you have to been seen to be blaming someone infront of your partner for your lack of planning.

thanks "spoon" however as above I mentioned that the seller agreed to send it the same day he got the money by recorded delivery, he got the money on the morning of the 20th, so presume he sent it the next day 21st at the latest (wednesday) according to royal mail "recorded delivery takes upto two days for delivery" (friday) last day of deliverys from royal mail was saturday (christmas eve).

also my partner dosent know about any of this.

hope that helps.

I still think an extra day makes little difference this time of year in 80% of deliveries, (certainly from my experience anyway) no matter what Royal Mail quote.

Which ever way you look at it you didn't leave yourself any comfort zone at all ordering that late, in my opinion.

Look on the bright side, it might turn up yet but if it doesn't you can shoot him dead.

Of course get your money back first, but I do think now you have made it public then it is your duty to kill him to prevent him ever doing it again.

I've had a parcel go missing after it was sent recorded delivery. It eventually turned up at it's destination 6 weeks later and it had been opened and re-packaged - got no idea where it had been all that time....

I had a valuation sent by recorded delivery on 14th December from Belfast to Glasgow. It arrived this morning

Anyway - I would just do a paypal chargeback. It is his loss, wether he sent it or not

Hindsights' wonderful but assuming it cost a few bob then he might have sent it Special Delivery and even at Christmas time it should have arrived within 48 hrs max. There is no priority given to Recorded (Signed For). Plus it's insured with Special Delivery. Recorded is just 30 times First Class stamp IIRC.
