shall I buy an Xbox 360?
Been offered a core package at normal retail price from a UK shop including free delivery.
Thing is I am not too fussed about playing it until splinter cell comes out in febrary, and until then, there are no games that I really care for.
I have a hi def tv to use it on and appreciate the pictures, but am really not mega in to it.
Is it worth buying to sell on just because I can?
I really don't know what to do.

Have been having similar thoughts, tbh I've not really researched it, but quite fancy playing PGR with the kids on Christmas morning before going to the pub

in order to use it HDTV u need a hdtv cable...out of stock
in order to use it wirelessly...u need a wireless adaptor £60
in order to get any use out of a core system...u need a hard disk
Hard disks seem to be out of stock everywhere....
But apart from that...you can turn the machine on or off from the controller without having to move

Personally I do want one but:
a) Can't afford one, only have material stuff to try and bribe someone with and
b) I will wait for the premium for the above reasons and the fact you get wireless controllers and the silver live subscription included

Adam,
Buy the XBOX360, play it for a while and flog it and get this.....
http://uk.gamestracker.com/ps3/screenshots.htm
Sorry, but the PS3 just takes things to another level. Worth the 4/5mth wait. Also the titles on the PS3 will be wide and varied compared to the XBOX.

4-5 month wait..... riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight
No doubting the PS3 will be good but if I were the original poster I would buy a 360 right now for 2 good reasons...
1. The 360 is available NOW and he can enjoy next gen games NOW.
2. The 360 is available NOW and he can enjoy next gen games NOW.
Now I know that's only really one reason but I thought it was so important it was worth saying twice

Oh ok, so do you work for Sony then. Have you actually been to factory? The Japs will pull it off. I don't think Sony will **** up, they have too much to lose.

They have too much to lose? theyve already lost mate, releasing the PS3 months let alone a year after the 360 has put it in the poo IMO.
And you still havent answered what the PS3 has to take it to a new level over the 360. Watch sony go down the pan like Sega did when EA start making their games for MS only

I'm waiting for the PS3 now. Reports so far are that although the 360 is quite good, there is no WOW factor yet, and its not really next gen, more like Xbox 1.5
Only seen COD, King Kong and PGR3 running on HD, but they didnt blow me away. COD on HD is way too bright or something.
I wouldn't buy the core system to sell on, as they are available here and there so the demand isnt as high.

Personnally I'll enjoy playing on the 360 till the PS3 comes out and then if it really is jaw droppingly much better than the 360 I'll get one of them as well.
At least with getting the 360 now, I can start the campaign to get the wife to allow me to buy a HD LCD TV

What are you guys chatting about?
It is a next gen machine, but it's the game developers that need to learn it's software and utilise it. Microsoft can't do that for them................
As for the PS3 Xbox 360 debate, I would say x360 as I was happier with the type of games supplied on the xbox as opposed to the ps2, but there you go.
Buy one mate, but wait to see if you can get the premium package first as you don't need to buy a hd, memory card, live subscription etc

i want to play games, not spend all day looking at eye candy, that does not make a game..
ffs, there still producing games with lens flare!!! since when did you or i suffer lens flare when driving a car?? its an artifact from looking though a lens, not a first person perspective viewpoint,
and as said earlier, unless you link to live, and pump in more cash you dont get much out.

I can't Steve, I'm only a humble Doc!!
To be honest, I'm a Microsoft man, so would stick with the Xbox anyway!
It won't matter if the PS3 is technically superior, by the time it gets out the developers will be getting to really exploit the power of the Xbox360 and I'm betting the games will look and play better on that until Sony catch up. We're also told that the Xbox 360 is easier to develop for than the PS3

It's funny how quick people forget how Sony came from nowhere with the PS1 and completely took over. Not saying they'll do it again with the PS3, but just because the 360 is out now, doesn't mean there isn't room for Sony to muscle in.
My current choice is to not buy the 360 as I don't think it's that much better than the standard XBox (currently). I don't have hi def TV, but saw Kameo running on one in Game, and wasn't that impressed. It looked nice for a console game, but I'm old school and the eye candy thing wears very thin very quickly.
Maybe I'm getting old and more interested in the things in life that matter I'll leave it for all you kids to play with

Most shops are getting cores in now so you probably wont get much, if any profit out of it. Now if you have a premium pack then thats worth selling as there seems to be a real shortage of these about.
Someone would have to offer me serious money for my premuim, 3 games and 2 wireless controllers for me to be tempted to sell
You sold yours then Nevetas?? You had that almost as long as the CSL

Another vote for the Amiga. Forget that Atari ST - OK, it's got midi ports, but so what?
Adam, is there anyone on the planet that you've not asked this question of? Do you want people to know you can get one or something ?
