It's quite a coincidence that you've started this thread Jamo, because I'm waiting for Empire to deliver this:
They've just upgraded me from a KDL-V40" because they can't secure the stock and this set is £800 dearer! Nice one Empire Commercial!

Is that the chimney that you started knocking down you soft bint?
It must be a pisser to have spent strong money on a 480 line Plasma, especially when 768 line kit was available concurrently...
This 40" LCD supports HD-720i so Im not sure whether to get an upscaling DVD player with an HDMI interface or whether to build an HTPC* using a DVI-out video adapter.....
* using one of these chassis:
Im going to use it as a massive PC display too so I can picture-and-picture TV/video and ScoobyNet/t'Internet at the same time and see it clearly all from my sofa.

i watched pulpfiction in 1080i into a pioneer 50" plasma and it was truly stunning. its about £750 with a 450gb drive.
only problem with it was the remotes a bit low rent, and the name...who the **** thinks them up?!?
really good value tho, i thought.

I was thinking more of the £100 Toshiba SD350E that gets 5*s in What HiFi S&V..... I dont think that many LCDs can support 1080x can they? The only one Ive seen is a Philips and Im not certain that it has a native resolution of the 19xx X 1080 pixels that are required. This set only suports 720x anyway; despite its price (Im glad Im not paying as it lists at more than my 'Wagons worth ffs!); so the £100 Tosh should do. I fancy the HTPC built into one of those Silverstonetec chassis, but Im not sure what sort of picture I can achieve from software decoding. Ive fot an Hollywood RealMagic+ DVD decoder card but i cant make the b*stard thing output a progressive image; itll add a progressive image on passthrough but the pictures degraded in other ways....
