Default How to remove a red wine stain from a carpet?

Anyone got any ideas?

It has now dried in.

I used salt first which did help a lot, then white wine which also helped a lot.

Now I am hoping that someone knows of a miracle product that really does work that will remove the rest.

anybody?

I use that Vanish Oxy foam stuff.... works a treat!

(its basically dilute oxalic acid, a mild bleaching agent)

http://www.fabriclink.com/carpet/carpetstain.html

Have a look there, tells you how to get rid of different stains

I usually use a carpet and upholstery spray stain remover which works well.

Isn't white wine supposed to be used to clean red wine stains from materials?

Top Tip.

Have some Soda Water on standby at all times. If Red Wine is spilt or any other nasty, pour on the Soda Water, watch it fizz and lift the stain out of the carpet pile. Mop up with kitchen towel and repeat until clean. We have cream wool carpets and this has worked on many occasion. The tip was given to us by the monther-in-law so I guess they do have their uses!

Chalk a body outline around the stain, doesn't remove the stain but it will be a hell of a talking point for years to come.
