Default Overhaulin'

Does anyone watch this programme on Sky?

I've recently discovered it and I must admit, I'm hooked!

I've never been that big a fan of Classic American muscle cars, but the job that these guys do makes me want one!

They regularily stick brand spanking new V8's with superchargers into completely revamped bodies of Camaro's, Corvettes, Chargers etc etc with brand new suspension, brakes, chassis and bespoke interiors and ICE installs for "deserving" owners of what was previously a dog!

Plus, the hostess Courtney..... hubba hubba

Yes, other half watches it all the time. It is good how they do it but I really hate the bit where the victim is taken to the car yard/pound and the presenter pretends to be a car thief or whatever. It is really naff and spoils an otherwise good show.

Have watched the odd episode of Overhaulin', must say it's rather good.

As for the Boyd vs Chip thing. From what I've read, Chip worked with Boyd, think it may have co-owned with Boyd, then he decided to set up on his own, and Boyd took a serious disliking to that, and has hated him ever since. Charley (the paint and bodywork guy at Boyd's) left Boyd's to work for Chip and Boyd was not impressed, you'd have thought Charley had just raped and murdered Boyd's family the way he took it.

Boyd = Boyd Coddington. His hotrod shop is the feature of the Discovery channel's "American Hotrod" program.

From watching AH, he looks like a complete ***** and a ******* to work for. However, it could simply be selective editing, or an act. If it's not then he either does not watch the show, or does not care he's being shown to be an arsehole.

Not only did Charley from BC's leave and go and work for CF but Mike has gone after being caught out by Dwayne and Chip designing wheels for CF on BC's equipment!!!. I've also heard that Beetle Bailey has gone to work with Charley at CF too.

Foose produces some seriously nice cars.

On a similar note, has anybody seen the "The Kustomiser" or something similar, also on Sky. They have an interesting member on the team as well .

I like to watch both shows. I do prefer Chip's work, but then I do have a preference to late 60's and 70's muscle cars. The earlier stuff, and new stuff made to look like 50's cars (usually with name like ****ster ) doesn't do it for me - I prefer originality with a twist.

What is it with yanks always insisting on ending words with "ster"

One thing about Boyd is as good as he is, he is an **** and certainly has a "Chip" on his shoulder. Dwayne doesn't do anything for keeping good vibes on the shop floor either. I'm not suprised that the place has seen such a high turnover of staff.

And Courtney Hansen is a babe - apart from she slaps on waay to much make up on the show, apparently she's quit Overhaulin' Crakin' **** though ......

They do some nice jobs, but always spoil them with hideous blingy alloys.
If my car ever ended up on there, I'd have to sell the wheels and put some nice ones on that aren't chrome.

I know where you are coming from and I'd understand what you are saying if they were fitted to a Corsa or something, but on the Yank muscle cars, the Foose rims look the dog's danglies IMO and anything less "bling" just wouldn't suffice!

Yes but they're genrerally yank muscle cars from the 50s - 70s. Those wheels look far too modern and simply do not go well with the car, even with the flashy paint jobs.

But each to their own, and all that. As you say at least they're not on a Corsa

I disagree about the wheels. They're usually based on a period design but updated, much like the rest of the car. Therefore, in most cases they work really well.

A quick glance on the Overhaulin website shows that standards have dropped for series 3, they have pictures of a Civic for god's sake, although I suppose series 1 did have that crappy Ford Explorer.

Can't beat a pair of 19" chrome Halibrand replicas

....Unless they are smoked chrome - which would be even better

Think I'll pass on the 70's 13" wolfraces and balloon tyres though

I like AH, but It gets boring when you have watched all the repeats before.

Best car so far is the Yellow Muscle car. Built for a woman

Overhaulin, just don't float my boat as they seem to Bling the cars up too much. I do the the power and handling upgrades though.
