Electric golf trolly thingy
Looking to buy one for my dad but had a shock when i saw the 400 price tag on a powakaddy.
Does anyone have any knowledge of these things?
Can i get a good one for not too much money?
Ive seen some on ebay but worry about the quality of them, id rather pay a bit more and have it last
All helpful comments greatly appreciated!

With the cheaper alternatives I would worry about sturdiness, as these things weigh a lot themselves, add a full set of clubs ontop and it weighs even more. The other thing to consider is battery life, you wouldnt want to run out of power half way around as it would be a real bitch to try and pull.
Sorry not much help.
Try some places like Nevada Bobs discount stores, and www.golfbuyitonline.co.uk these two I have bought from in the past and found great service.

Don't buy PowerKaddy they are a bag of sh1te - look good but speak to most club pro's and they will say how unreliable they are
I would also steer clear of the majority on ebay-although sellars have good feedback people tend to leave this before they find out the battery is dead after 2 rounds.
This is the ferrari of golf trolley's but a bit out of your price range
http://www.stewartgolf.com/
If I was buying a golf trolley now I would buy this, it has done very well in all reviews and looks great.

I think this is the right model here

As said have a word with the pro at a couple of courses before you buy. I dont mean Nevada Bobs either I mean pro's at golf courses, preferably the cheaper end of the market clubs. They will give you good and sound advice.

Someone mentioned Hill Billy, have had a look and they look okay as well.
Does anyone have any 1st hand knowledge?
Motocaddy looks okay, doesnt say how heavy, the hill billy ones are quite lite but cant take that much weight. I dont know how heavy his golf bag is!!!!!!!!!!!
Does the motocaddy just foldaway or do you have to unscrew and muck about with it?
Getting confused.

Is that cos they are near you? Are you them in disguise ? tee hee
Do you have one? The only concern is how much weight they can take.
I dont want to have to ask my dad anything, it will be a nice surprise and he really deserves it!

IMO Hill billy are a very good alternative.
I have a Powercaddy, it looks very nice and does the job.
But if I bought a replacement I would consider a Hill-Billy
Having said that sone courses ban electric trolleys when the weather is bad, so a decent carry bag might be a good alternative. You could always make the value up a bit by getting him a course of lessons from the pro, depending how keen he is.

Last time he had lessons his handicap went to pot!
He has been playing years and obviously you get your own style and then if someone tries to teach you the proper way it is near impossible.
He plays off a 13 which i believe isnt bad. He only gets to play once a week. Sometimes he fits an extra round in, if mum lets him ha ha
Will retire in the next 5 years or so tho, then he can live on the golf course!

Dont go for the pricey powerkaddy ones, overrated in my eyes. My regulary golf partner has just bought one of these on ebay and I had a go, and its superb and only £120, it was top quality and very well made and does the job for a fraction of the cost.

13 is good, in fact I am also off 13 so I reckon its better than good its excellent
You could well be right about the lessons, trying to make changes is difficult as they always feel odd.
But I am assured that they will do me the power of good as my Pro takes another £15.00 off of me!?!

Lessons are worth their money if the pro knows his stuff, and isnt just a pro-shop pro.

I can say nothing but good for the powercaddys. my father has one and its great. no probs with the biggest of hills and plenty of power and toys. they are however over priced a bit. from my experiance they are the best on the market.
if your dads reasonable fit man then as said before you cant beat a decent lightweight carry bag.
