DAB Radios
Can someone explain something to me:-
1. Why a DAB Radio?
2. Why are normal radios given away for Insurance Quotes and DABs cost £100?
3. I assume they are only available in Stereo?
4. Why haven't they taken off?
5. Pink Elephant of the 2000s?

Don't worry Pete, your gramaphone will do for a few years yet...
DAB is for radio what CD/mp3 is for audio, and what digital tv was for analogue tv.
You get poorer quality, more convenience, and the vendors can squeeze more channels in the same bandwidth.
You can get mono DAB sets, but the transmitted signal is stereo I believe. Do you only have one ear?
Analogue radio will die at some point, so although appearing to be something of a girly coloured mastodon its time will come.

IMO they have not taken off because the large majority of people who listen to radio do not give a **** about quality or digital nincompoopness.
people who listen to radio pretty much do so at work IMO (excluding cars) , i do not know anybody who would plan a night indoors to listen to sum good quality digital broadcasting

I listen to DAB so I can get digital-only stations, or those not available on FM in my local area. E.g. I sometimes listen to alternative London Station XFM in the Midlands. Also listen to Planet Rock/BBC 6 Music.
Good for me as I don't currently have access to freeview/sky/broadband.
