Default i agree......

After many cities not wanting to offend other cultures by putting up Xmas
lights.
After hearing that the Birmingham council changed its opinion and let a
Muslim woman have her picture on her driver's license with her face
covered.
After hearing of a Primary School in Birmingham where a boy was told that
for PE they could wear Football League shirts (Aston Villa, Birmingham, West
Brom etc) but NOT an England shirt as it could offend others !
This prompted the editorial below written by a UK citizen. Published in a
British tabloid newspaper.

Quote: IMMIGRANTS, NOT BRITON'S, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It.
I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some
individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on London, we
have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Brits.
However, the dust from the attacks has barely settled and the
politically correct" crowd begin complaining about the possibility that
our patriotism is offending others. I am not against immigration, nor do
I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to
Britain. However, there are a few things that those who have recently
come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand.
This idea of London being a multicultural community has served only to
dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Britons, we have
our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own
lifestyle.

This culture has been developed over centuries of wars, struggles,
trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought
freedom. We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese,
Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to
become part of our society, Learn the language! "In God We Trust" is our
National Motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political
slogan. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women, on
Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly
documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of
our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another
part of the world as your new home, Because God is part of our culture.
If St. George's cross offends you, or you don't like " A Fair Go", then
you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet.
We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we
really don't care how you did things where you came from. This is OUR
COUNTRY,OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every
opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining,
whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our National Motto, or
Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other
great British freedom, "THE RIGHT TO LEAVE". If you aren't happy here
then f#@* off! We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here.
So accept the country YOU accepted. Pretty easy really, when you think
about it. I figure if we all keep passing this to our friends (and
enemies) it will also, sooner or later get back to the complainers, lets
all try.....

Well how the **** does wearing an England shirt for PE and calling Christmas Christmas affect them!

I agree with that article whole-heartedly!

I was born here, As were my parents, and their fathers were 2 of the many hereos from WW2, and their fathers were 2 of the many hereos in WW1. I havent got a problem with immigrants being here, but they can get fcuked if they think were going to adopt their rules!I certainly am not!

And **** the 'PC' lot

"In god we trust" is our national motto? Really? Thought that was the United States, but hey, I've only lived here all my life, so I guess I'd not know this supposedly vital piece of information about my own country.

And if God (a nice, white, Christian God, obviously) offends me I should leave the UK? Who needs all that namby-pamby free speech, eh?

I doubt the authenticity of the text. 'In God We Trust' is not our national motto, but something printed on US bank notes...........

And since when have we had a pledge???

Sounds like a bit of cut and paste bollox to me. I don't mind the sentiment of the piece, but don't pretend that was ever published in the UK, because I doubt that.

Why should a muslim women be allowed to cover her face on a driving licence ??
Isn't that the whole idea of them, so you can be indentified ?? The rules are there in black and white, if she doesn't like it catch the f**kin bus !!

As for not letting kids wear england shirts, that is just pathetic !!
How dose a person in England wearing an England shirt affect others in their everyday life ??
We should start complaining about the Indian, Pakistan or any other cricket shirts,
would they be made to stop wearing them ?? No of course not !!

The weekly thread about moaning about our nationality has arisen again..... Half of its a load of sh!te anyhow. Anything thats happened in recent times, i.e the christmas light cr@p. Will any of us call christmas winterville? or christmas lights winter lights? course we wont. we'll get on with out every day and call it what we want, not like a law has changed and you'll get locked up for calling them what you want. I certainly dont feel any less English or British than I did 10 years ago, do any of you honestly do? Yes I think the country is going down the pan but because of other things rather than what the press print about certain cr@p.

Half of you lot are so easily led.

Of course it isn't - the DVLA decide what goes on a licence, not Birmingham council.

This is typical racist garbage - take a few half-truths, wrap it up in flag-waving and the church, and serve to the gullible masses, most of whom will believe it. Over time, it becomes accepted that Christmas really has been banned, that Muslims are anti-Britain, and that "our" way of life is under attack, even though none of these things are true.

And if anyone harks back to a better, kinder, gentler time, when Britain was united, look back at Oswald Moseley's exploits. He tapped in to exactly the same fears and prejudices around 70 years ago, though his target was Jews rather than Muslims .... not a lot changes in the UK, even though we like to think it does

If all of what you say is true, where is the source? Or was it just a cut and paste from an email?

"In God we trust" in the States maybe..... but let's not confuse the UK with the US!

As ever with these "PC gone mad" stories, who normally makes these decisions..... the "white moral minority".

Wherever that article came from, it applies in the main to us in this country and I agree with the sentiments entirely.

We have an absolute right to maintain our own culture and way of life without having to pander to the lentil eaters who issue edicts which the immigrant community can't even see the sense of anyway.

If people want to come and live here thats ok, but they should not expect the right to try to change our way of life to what they would prefer and which obviously did not do them much good where they came from anyway. It is down to them to fit in with us and for us to be tolerant of their beliefs also while upholding our own way of life.

This NL PC method of trying to lean over backwards to accommodate ethnic ideals at the cost of our own is a mistake and will only serve to drag our country even further down the tubes.

There is nothing wrong in being proud to be British and saying so!

The real shame of it is, it's NOT the religious/ethnic minorities complaining about this sort of thing It's white, middle class liberals, with self created guilt complexes, who want to impose their guilt on the rest of us.

I think if the people who wrote this sort of sh!te bothered to ask those who they are railing against, they would find that they are as offended by the discrimination implicit in PC bullsh!t, as we are offended by the repression

If that is how you feel, then say it, instead of cutting and pasting some re-hashed bull$hit from an American.

Although if you do make reference to "PC gone mad" news articles, use real ones.

Culture and 'britishness' changes and evolves all the time. Most would agree that the nations favourite dish is a curry these days. This wasn't the case 100 years ago. Football wasn't celebrated 100 years ago like it is now. No mass music industry 100 years ago. No lager & Tea without 'outside' influence (well british colonisation etc.). Where did Christmas come from? Not Britain, that's for sure.

Let's ignore the negative incoming culture and lets embrace the good bits of the incoming culture, not a blanket "it's foreign, it's no good" as you'd be skating on very thin ice. Without 'foreign' influence, Britishness would be all the worse for it.
