Courier Work
Just wondering if anyone has done this?
It's for a firm who install IT equipment for large business inlcuding, asda, boots, lun poly, etc.
It's basic stuff, alot less taxing than what i do at the moment but the money seems really good.
The only catch is that i would need to go self employed and supply my own van, etc.
Any info on this would be great, not too sure what i might be getting myself into.
Cheers for any info

How much tax can i expect to paying as well as national insurance if i was to be taking home around 600 pounds a week after i have paid for deisel?
I have no real idea of what i should expect to be paying in tax.
I'm sure there must be lots of self emloyed people on here, are there any calculators or websites that give indications to what a person going self employed for the first time should be paying?

As a rough guide
Gross earnings, less allowable costs such as cost of vehicle (various rules apply), fuel, insurance, maintenance etc = taxable amount. Upto 30K take off 1/3 and divide rest by 52 (weekly) or 12 (monthly) to equate take home. Above 30K, same sums as before except for the extra money allow only 60%
As I said - as a guide only.
£600 gross pw after diesel but before vehicle costs & u'll be looking about £100 - £200 in those maybe.

I've kind of made the decision to sick out where i am.
Even though the money is alot better than what i earn, i would consider the move quite a big step back in my IT Career.
I'm wanting to get into network engineering and management; If i was to take the job as a courier even with my qualifications i'd struggle to find a job on similar money. If the **** ever did hit the fan doing the courier stuff i'd be stuck.
