Default Tortoise

My wife had a tortoise when she was young and wants one again now

Any idea where to get one? I have done the usual google search on it and found some outlets ......... but, I would rather go for a recommendation!

IIRC it is illegal to import tortoises now, you have to get one that has been bred in this country. Other that, I can't help much.

They sell them at Porton Pets and Aquatics, didn't think they could be bought in a shop anymore, expensive though, started at £150 up to £400

Pete, should you really be buying an animal that, at your age, will out live you by about 60 years?

Wink

Heard the one about the drunk who won a tortoise on a fairground game? He went back later, won again and was offered his choice of prize.
He thought for a bit, then said, "I dunno, just giz another of them crunchy meat pies"

I would imagine that it could have a life of, say? 100 years??

I will expire, when? 10 years time at 87??

Thats a damned sight more than 60 years!!

Mind you, the wife is only 26years old ......... I know she wants my money, so no judging please!!

And it is for her!

They can live anything up to 100 years... I took an average, weighted slightly in your favour!

The point is, its a ridiculous idea. Spend your money on something that won't need looking after once you have shuffled off your mortal coil!

If you had a shred of decency you would leave ALL your money to good causes like hospitals and the Labour party, not a something as selfish as a single living relative. I am truely shocked at your double standards Peter.

I just did a search and the oldest recorded tortoise "timothy" was 160 when it died last year Chances are you'd have to leave it in your will.
