Default Cult films - anyone recommend any good ones?

As the title.

Was watching 'Avalon' last night - excellent film, and its nice to see films which arent mainstream hollywood productions for a change.

Anyone recommend any?

Yep, well sort of - its by a Japanese director, but filmed in Poland.... in Polish..

Top film tho, would recommend it - one where it really leaves you thinking at the end!

I'd forgotten about that one - just looked on imdb and it gets an 8.5 rating! Must get that sometime.

the crow
brandon lee (son of bruce) died whilst making the film in the gun battle scene someone switched a blank for a live round
not sure how mainstream it was but seemed too dark and it certainly wasn't a blockbuster

I like films that are made on the same storyline/book but are overshadowed by a similar but bigger budget film. Example: Silence of the lambs, want to watch a film thats got better acting and a better storyline but is still based on Red Dragon then watch Manhunter I cant even express how much better than Silence than film is. Also Heat with Al Pacino and De Niro is a great film but so is the original version called L A Takedown. Want horror? Remember the lost boys good film? Yes only unless you never watched Near Dark which makes it look complete rubbish.

How about "The Player" with Tim Burton. Watch it twice - once to enjoy the film and the second to work out how they do the panning on the opening shot. Those who have seen it will know what I am talking about.....
