Cool have any blackspot customers had a booket through the post?

iy looks like a good deal...

is that a good deal or can you get the RA a lot cheeper elsewhere?

It looks like a good deal until you realise that if you have a lifetime subscription then it won't be valid anymore

That's why I bought the RA in the first place...

I've not had that letter. Yes it does seem like a good deal, BUT

Owners who got the original RA with a lifetime subscription wil loose it. As already pointed out.

The RA Navigator doesn't come with an integrated lazer alert.

there you go...

Safety Camera, Accident Blackspot and Safety Alerts

The Road Angel Navigator will also warn you of approaching safety cameras, accident blackspots, congestion charging zones and primary schools. It utilises Road Angel's award winning camera database (Scooby Magazine Winner, Evo Best Buy, Auto Express Award Winner) of camera sites, which was at the heart of the success of the Classic and New Road Angel products.

Whilst alerting you audibly (by voice and beeps) to approaching safety cameras it will display the advised speed limit in the bottom right hand corner of the screen allowing you to concentrate on your driving and not on the speed sign posts! See screen shot below.

That'll make me their 2nd most valued customer then.

I have an VDO Sat/Nav built in to my WRX which needs upgrading & a less than year old one of these This trade in looks to offer the best of both worlds.

Trade in your old unit here as well :-

Sara, you spend too long in Muppets!

It does not have an integrated lazer alert, you have to buy a seperate module for £100.

If they offer that freebie in conjunction with the upgrade (which they want £279 for assuming that you've got a RA2) thats a VERY good deal! I suspect it may be for people paying the full wack though! Still, not to be sniffed at!

I'm a bit confused here. . . .

If you have a life sub to reciecve (what is essentially) the same information, why can't it be carried over?

I've not read between the lines yet, how much are we getting back for handing in the RA2?

They do Just swopped 2 RA classics with lifetime for 2 of these. Paid £340 & got the remote ariel thrown in, carriage £6.00 & 1 x Europe map for £160.

Re the lifetime, afraid that you can not carry it across . I always wondered how they were going to make money for £90 upgrade to lifetime as the classic also came with 1st year foc. Now its 6 months & £3.99 pm (£47.88pa)or £49pa upfront???. With all the DD's going out monthly an other £4 ain't going to matter that much.

I spoke to David there, very helpful & the new units will be with me Monday

I think the marketing men at Blackspot made an error when they first launched the original RA. £99 for lifetime subs is a good deal so to try and ween people off they have given the sweetener to upgrade but then they get it back with ongoing subs...

Sara, its quite simple, why you no get it

But is that even worth having? By the point it's detected the laser you've been caught anyway.

I don't read it like this . From Networx it is £279 to upgrade from a RA2 to the RA NAV inc the foc lazer thingy . From Nav-Now its £299 & no from lazer thingy.

I think

in my booklet i got through the post it says if you own the Classic RA you can upgrade for £349...and if you own the New RA then the upgrade is £299

i think i'd rather sell my RA and buy a cheeper navigator. in a few months the price will drop anyway

Usually, yes, but occassionally you may get a lucky deflection.

In any case, I think I'd want to know if I'm likely to have been targeted. If nothing else, it helps me sleep better should -for example- I have inadvertantly exceeded the posted speed limit.

£299 exchange inc the lazer dectector is a very good deal indeed for what looks like a very good piece of kit!

True. But if you're not speeding then its more for piece of mind rather than avoidance Example you're sticking to the speed limit where you know scameras maybe waiting, but normally you might speed up after that point if there is no scamera. However if the detector picks up on a scamera before u speed up then its going to save you isnt it
