Beware of your spellcheck
We all just got sent this email from our IT dept:
All,
The server ZABCDEFX01 will be unavailable from 1800 this evening, this will effect all pod printers and network drives on the original Head Office server. The SQL server will also be going down for a short time at approximately 1815.
Both servers should be back online by 1900. If this will cause any major disruption to any users please contact me on ext 349, sorry for any incontinence this may cause.

It was followed about 10 minutes later by a rather embarrassed sounding email thanking people for pointing out the spelling mistake...
It was one of those global messages as well - went to everyone from the Chief Exec down.

First e-mail I ever sent.
One of my colleagues (and a very good mate) sent a global mail about a project we were working on. He's a very clever guy but he sometimes has brainfarts when it comes to spelling and/or punctuation. This was one of those occasions.
So I responded, telling him (in the direct way that people who have been friends for 20 years do) that he was a tosser and should check his mail before sending it. I may have used stronger terms.
You know what's coming next, don't you.
Yep. Me, who'd had an e-mail account for about 10 minutes, managed to reply to everyone on the list.
Oh how my boss chuckled...

Is so easily done, a few of us go to a local chinese some lunchtimes which does an all you can eat meal, so about three months ago I invited out marketing manager (a good friend of mine) if he wanted to come, and he said yes. I then thought it would be really funny to send him an email under a spoof name (changed my alias on the exchange server) from the chinese stating that becuase he was on the large size they would do him an all you can eat bucket for the price of £105.00 etc. etc. and a good laugh was had by all.
The problem was later that day I was asked by our FD why he had received all the monthy accounts reports from 'Ken Soon (chinese restaurant owner)', yep had forgot to set the alias back on the server.
