Question What all do I need for Tom Tom on my P910?

I have a Sony Eriksson P910i and wish to put Tom Tom 500 on it. If I buy a Cd from E bay and transfer the software to my phone's memory stick Duo, do I then only need a GPS receiver? I already have a proper Sony Eriksson hands free kit for the phone. What size of memory card should I upgrade to ?

a 512Mb card will be enough but I would get a 1Gb and have room for several maps plus other apps you may want ot run plus music and videos.

You just install the program and maps on your memory card.

I have this GPS unit Globalsat BT-338 Bluetooth GPS Receiver SiRF Star III 3 and it works perfectly.

I presume your car kit powers the phone because TomTom will suck battery life!

And if the HFCK kit is bluetooth, then you might have problems as I don't think the phone can hold the BT kit and the BT GPS at the same time (I think it's this way round, ready to be corrected).

The HFCK is NOT bluetooth; it is hardwired so that it interrupts my music when a call comes in. Would this type work OK?? The unit does charge my phone.

It works well, but be prepared that the voice commands from tomtom won't come out of your speakers, only out of the phone speaker, and this isn't very loud when you're on the move. One solution is to download voice files that have been individually increased in volume - I've got this for R66, don't know if it's necessary/done for tomtom.

Another solution is to use a cable headset while you're driving

Sorry, I've just been disappointed by exactly the same feature, and I can't believe the companies are releasing these programs with such a fundamental bug.

Tom tom is load enough for me with the radio on. It help the phone is on a screen mount as i think the sound reflect back off the glass.

Was initially worried about the level off volume myself but can honestly say that it is not a problem and if you are needing to concentrate on the spoken instructions if you are lost then turning down the radio / stereo is surely not a big problem ??!!

I'm in a non-luxury jeep, so I get significant road and tyre noise above 40mph. And I far prefer to hear the directions than look at the screen.

I haven't tried tomtom yet (), maybe it's louder than R66 which is what I have.

Mine "may" be a bit louder as it is an upgraded 993TT with sports exhaust!!
Still, I should not be at high revs if I am actually looking for a location!
