LPG Conversion
#3
Yeah I have - 4.6 litre range rover went over to LPG.
Cost 2k, don't want to put you off too much, but it utterly destroyed my motor. It makes things a lot cheaper in the long run, as the car cost £90+ to fill, down to about £40 - 45, but for goodness sake make sure its a good, well established dealer and you have tons of paperwork

theres a company that specialise in this, their demo car is a scoob, been in it, the power was equal to a normal one. made little to no difference.

A mate had his SEAT Leon Cupra converted. He said performance was just about identical and he has already saved more money than the cost of the conversion.

I had a Range Rover converted as well 3.5 V8 though, and the tank was in the boot, which was a right pain in the 'rse. When the seats were down, there was very little space to put anything, as the tank went straight across the middle.
What I would say though, is that finding the stuff really isn't a problem at all. I have a map somewhere which has all the LPG filling stations on it, but in all honesty, I never used it. Almost all main service stations in and out of town sell the stuff, and it's only when you go somewhere more remote that it could be useful - mostly as many of the places that sell LPG aren't actually garages, but sell it for other things as well. Like a few that I came across in the Cairngorms.
Other thing, as someone said, make sure it's a certified conversion, and that you get the certificate of installation with it, as I had all kinds of problems with insurance for a similar reason. The guy who installed mine used to be an LPG vehicle fitter, but had moved on and wasn't any more, and it was his own car anyway that he'd converted...etc...etc Apart from anything else, it can cause overheating if it's not installed properly, so it's worth it, I'd say.

The bit you mention above had two 12 inch subs and an 800 watt kenwood xtreme amp on it, so I do understand the spaces woes

Thanks for the replies
I've already converted an Audi 80 and have just bought a kit for a Seat Alhambra which looks a bit more complex.
Rather than pester the supplier too many times, I was wondering:
Where does the temperature sensor go?
How do I find the TPS & RPM output on the car?
Many thanks
