Default Parking

at my new apartment there is allocated parking spaces, this was one of the reason why i chose this apartment

i have been to the apartment quite a bit the past few days to see a few cars using "my space"

IMO this is unacceptable, i have noticed most others cars using the same space every day, the landlord has confirmed that the space outside the bedroom window is mine, the apartment across the communal hall has the space directly opposite mine.

the car park looks like its gets pretty full when everybody is home, i am planning on moving in sum time next week

how would you go about shifting these cars?

i had planned to leave a note under the windscreen letting the owner know it is my space, my G/F thinks this is an **** way to go about things

the problem is i have no idea which part the owner of the main car lives at so i can not simply knock on a door and ask, and i don't want to the "new bloke who is an arsehole" there is plenty of time to find out i am an arsehole in good and proper time LOL.

what would you do?

pmsl @ last sentence!!!

How about contacting the land lord? Maybe he could explain that it will be your space and everyone has an allocated space?

leave a note, im sure the person is using it, as it is not in use at the moment. Maybe they are visiting or their space is further away and your space is more convenient, and as its not in use, they use it.

not a big issue, its when they know its your space and you need to use it and they still park there it becomes an issue.

it has crossed my mind that it might just be due to the space being unused

the landlord has told the estate agents that she always parked in her own space anyway.

i dont want to have to put my car in sumbody elses space, because sumbody else is in mine etc etc

the car that is in "my" space (ive just been over there to collect a few things) has been there a good few times while i have been visiting

i have written this note

according to my landlord, this parking space is allocated in the deeds to number 14
----------------
please do not park in this space
----------------
would have knocked but i do not know who lives where ?!?

does that seam reasonable?

"Shift your car fu*kwit and don't let me see it parked here again" is a better way of getting off on the wrong foot. Why don't you just park your car in the allocated space as often as you can and get to know your neighbours? I'm sure once people know you and your car it will stop.

Notes on cars will cause rows, trust me, I used to wind my old neighbour up a treat

I don't think it would hurt to be a little more human.

Just write a friendly note and stick it under their wiper.

Well it's not going to charm the pants off them but it's not rude.

I'd just try and warm it up a little, even if it's just a simple greeting and a thanks at the bottom.

This person is probably only parking in the space as he/she thinks the property is empty and will more than likely stop once he/she knows you're in. No need to be anything but Mr Nice Guy.

I wouldn't do the note but clock when they parked/collected and go & have a polite word instead.

"Look m8/miss I'm really sorry to trouble you like but would you mind not parking in this space as it means I can't park my car anywhere and this is my space you know..."

I'm suprised that if the parking spaces are allocated like this that they don't have removable posts protecting the bay. You know the kind of thing that you have to unlock and fold over before you park.

There can't be any confusion then.

If this is happening to you it is probably the same for other residents. I'd be tempted to get together with the landlord and other residents and sort it out. Might cost you a few quid but it would give you peace of mind.

Just don't let it get round what you do.
They'll all be after discount washes and valets.
Or, on the other hand, discount vouchers to be used by a certain date.

lmao

if you had of seen my car recently you would relise there is NO WAY they do not know what i do

its coverd in buisness promo stickers with my logo and stuff everywhere, which everybody stares at, the buisness logo is very well known round these parts now, jobs a goodun l , i did put a post up on the gallery a while back with the pics, and had sum quality "i dont know what im talking about" advice from sumbody who thought i should remove them all and make them look more like the convential valeting buisness charriots

he even told me they should look like the "bubbles mobile valeting vans"
which is ironic as last week i came onto a roundabout which had a bubbles van waiting to join and the drivers eyes nearly popped out of his sockets when he saw the car

I would hope that a friendly note would work. Something like: -

"Please note that I will be moving into my flat on Tuesday, and am advised this is my parking space. I would therefore appreciate it if you did not park in this space after this. Many thanks"

If they persist after you have left a friendly note, leave another on but on gum backed paper which you can stick on the windscreen in front of the driver. He will soon get fed up of scraping it off.

Pay the money now and get a locking retractable pillar (bollard) fitted.

Been there....two fights later and countless notes left on windscreens later, it's the only way

Cheers

update

been back over tonight after work
car from yesterday was in a diffrent place out of the way

the "other" car that has been parking there (work van) was in the space next to mine, i belive these people have 2 cars, as there always in the 2 same places

this work van was, and i have to admit, precision parked right on the while line on my side, this leaves no room for me to get in due to a wall on my left, i can get in, but theres no way i can open the doors

it could be coincedence, but the thing was far to neat against the parking space "border"

the whole thing stinks of "ok we will leave your space along but we will stop you getting in properlly"

looks like i will just have to be an arsehole about it if this keeps happening, the thing is, that when the 2 cars were useing the same spaces there was always plenty of room in "my" space as i checked everytime i was there.

will monitor the situation
had another chat with the estate agents today to confirm that the space is infact mine......
