Private Number Plate Swap

Private Number Plate Swap
Okay, should be a simple answer for anyone who's done this recently.
I have just bought a new car and need to transfer my private plate onto the new one.
What forms do I need to fill in?
Or do I just have to send both V5 docs off the Swansea with a letter and the £80.00 transfer fee?
Thanks, Wobbly.

hi mate it depends have you got thhe number plate on retention or not? if so all you have to send in is the retention form and also a simple form, and send your log book and the plate will get tranfered over and they'l send you the envelope to send your old roadtax back and they;l send youa new log book.
If you have got the plate on a car fil in a simple form, give your log book in and again they'l asend it in the post. they'l send you the certificate to make new plates and send you a new tax disc.
if you've got a dvla office near by just go along and they'l send it all off for you. hope that helps.

if you goto your local dvla office they transfer it there and then. no need to send off any documents. they update your MOT and re-issue your tax disk. you then get a new V5 in the post. it takes about 10 mins to do.

Thanks for the answers guys.
The reg plate is currently on our (old) car, so it will need transffering to the new vehicle.
Fastest way is looking like a quick trip to the DVLA office in Birmingham (with both V5's, MOT certifificates and tax discs).
