Laser speed gun scam

Laser speed gun scam
I am sure some saw the item in the Daily Mail over the weekend which called the accuracy and operation/management of the LTI 20.20 laser speed gun thingme into question.
This has been an area that the CPS, police and government have been very unhappy to discuss and the CPS have not, that I know of, taken any cases to court where the defence was based upon the laser device being inaccurate. Therefore no precedent has been set.
You may also recall that the BBC "Inside Out" programme in February did an excellent job of ripping the speed gun apart and highlighting that the sole importer, and ex-policeman strangely enough, was also the sole recognised expert witness here in the UK. It certainly isn't in his interests to highlight any problems with the device then.
Well, in September the programme revisited the issue and you can download and view the programme in Real Player format from this page on Pepipoo:

I know that many people who downloaded and viewed the first programme, which can also be accessed from that link, were amazed. Many were especially impressed by the demo of a brick wall travelling at 58mph.
This is well worth the download, specially for those who claim that if you never do anything wrong then you have nothing to fear.

I saw that programme and was hoping that the national press would pick it up.
I said some time ago that I reckoned that laser equipment could well be inaccurate and it seems that there may be many motorists who have been unfairly convicted and fined.
There is no way that it can be trusted as a hand held device and it should be dropped and all convictions cancelled.

You are right of course Alcazar, I stated what they should do, not what they would as I am sure you realise.
I imagine that if it really became an issue they would pass another law to make it all alright really without going to Parliament as they usually do these days!
