Thumbs up

on your writer it usually specifies if it is a + or - writer or if it is both -/+ if its both you can use either, but I would suggest using - as I seem to get less coasters (bad copys) with them.

I get mine from here, and these are the - ones I buy, as they are cheaper

If you can only use + click here as these are good as well although I have had varied luck with them, I have heard good things

seems to be a bit of pot luck involved - I have a + on my lappy and a +/- dedicated recorder. We have 4 players in various guises. Two of them will only play -, one of them will only play +, and the really really old one sems to play + or - with no issues

Use http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk/ - very good service.

Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim are the best but can be pricey. The others will probably be fine but I would avoid the cheapest.

I use Datawrite titanium DVD-R X8 or X16, not had a single coaster or playback issue with these.

As already stated; Taiyo Yuden are the best dscs vailable without a doubt, but they arent cheap. A keener priced alternative would be either 'Ritek' branded media or discs made using Ritek G05 dye. Bulkpaq are indeed ****e.

-R is the most popular format and the most compatible in my experience.

Just finished off a spindle of 25 -Rs, no problems, no coasters, all play back okay on my Sony DVD player. Must just have been lucky . Normally use Datawrites though.

Its the longevity of the disks that counts though.

Yeh its the write speed the disc is capable of doing. But ure drive also needs to be able to write at those speeds to. So if ure writer is only an X8 then theres no point in buying X16 dvdrs. The same applies to CDR's.
