Default The saddest song?

Whilst trawling the <cough> internet I stumbled upon this version of the cover of Heaven by DJ Sammy called the Sept 11th remix. Intrigued, i downloaded it.

Have a listen for yourself.

Heaven

Saw a couple of threads about the "original cover" but nothing mentioning this version.

Similar mix was made of a Depeche Mode song called "Freestate" by DJK8T world trade centre remix. Very moving.

There's a lady who's dying of cancer and has written a song for her daughter to remember her by, they keep playing it on radio 2. The lady is still alive at the mo I believe.

That must be pretty sad for the daughter to listen to I'd imagine!

"My heart....so blue" : Erasure.

Or Al Jolson's rendition of his song "Sonny Boy" when told on stage that his son just died

That's just set me off big style. My little boy's 5 and anything involving children always really affects me.

See the tree, how big it's grown
But friend it hasn't been too long
It wasn't big
I laughed at her and she got mad
The first day that she planted it
Was just a twig

Then the first snow came
And she ran out to brush the snow away
So it wouldn't die
Came runnin' in all excited
Slipped and almost hurt herself
And I laughed till I cried

She was always young at heart
Kinda dumb and kinda smart
And I loved her so
And I surprised her with a puppy
Kept me up all Christmas Eve
Two years ago

And it would sure embarrass her
When I came in from workin' late
'Cause I would know
That she'd been sittin' there and cryin'
Over some sad and silly
Late, late show

And honey, I miss you
And I'm bein' good
And I'd love to be with you
If only I could

She wrecked the car and she was sad
And so afraid that I'd be mad
But what the heck
Though I pretended hard to be
Guess you could say she saw through me
And hugged my neck

I came home unexpectedly
And caught her cryin' needlessly
In the middle of the day
And it was in the early spring
When flowers bloom and robins sing
She went away

And honey, I miss you
And I'm bein' good
And I'd love to be with you
If only I could

One day while I was not at home
While she was there and all alone
The angels came
Now all I have is memories
Of Honey and I wake up nights
And call her name

Now my life's an empty stage
Where Honey lived and Honey played
And love grew up
And a small cloud passes overhead
And cries down on the flowerbed
That Honey loved

And see the tree how big it's grown
But friend it hasn't been too long
It wasn't big
And I laughed at her and she got mad
The first day that she planted it, was just a twig

Heavy listening perhaps, but hardly appropriate, given that song's about suicide, no?

I hate that REM 'Everybody Hurts' song with a passion, it reminds me of an ex who was a manic depressive one day and aggressive ******* the next and used to play it all the time like it was some kind of mantra I guess I'm just a bit heartless as I'm not a fan of sloppy songs full stop, unfortunately the dopey bint next door keeps playing a Westlife album very loudly which is all sloppy stuff and it's driving me insane.

Wow, that really puts a lump in the throat.

I'm sure that having kids changes you physcologically. I remember just after my daughter was born there was a TV news article about the boy that was killed in the warrington IRA bombings and they showed a child-size coffin being carried to the cemetary. I just burst out crying and really suprised myself as I had never been affected by such scenes before.

Lifehouse - 'Simon' is a nice sad song...He wrote it about a friend of his who was being bullied at school....I think he wrote it when he was 16 or something daft.

catch your breath
hit the wall
scream out loud
as you start to crawl
back in your cage
the only place
where they will
leave you alone
cause the weak will seek the weaker till they've broken them
could you get it back again
would it be the same
fulfillment to their lack of strength at your expense
left you with no defense
they tore it down

and I have felt the same
as you I've felt the same
as you I've felt the same

locked inside
the only place
where you feel sheltered
where you feel safe
you lost yourself
in your search to find
something else to hide behind
cause the fearful always preyed upon your confidence
didn't they see the consequence
they pushed you around
the arrogant build kingdoms made of the different ones
breaking them till they've become
just another crown

and I have felt the same
as you I've felt the same
as you I've felt the same
as you I've felt the same

refuse to feel
anything at all
refuse to slip
refuse to fall
can't be weak
can't stand still
watch your back
cause no one will

you don't know why they had to go this far
traded your worth for these scars
for your only company
and don't believe the lies that they have told to you
not one word was true
you're alright
you're alright
you're alright

and I have felt the same
as you I've felt the same
as you I've felt the same
as you I've felt the same
