Truth stranger than fiction?
My wife's just re-read The Count of Monte Cristo, by Alexandre Dumas. The story is of a guy who is directed to an unbelievable fortune on a little island, and uses it to wreak his revenge on false accusors.
She's also just reading Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe, which is based on the true story of Alexander Selkirk who lived alone for years on Juan Fernandez Island off Chile.
I see reports this morning that someone has got a robot that scans the soil to a depth of 50m, and they have found treasure buried on Juan Fernandez Island, which has an estimated value in the region of 5 Billion Pounds.
Wow...
