Acid reflux is sometimes caused by ulcers. Best advice is to have it checked - although this is not at all pleasant. But worth it.

I suffer quite a bit from it. Short term, Gaviscon's Gavilast normally does the trick for up to 12 hours. Long term, check out what you eat prior to getting it and cut down on it. Beer is my worst culrpit!

They didnt test for ulcerson me, they tested for h. pylori (which invoved drinking some gak and breathing into a tube, and then drinking some lemon juice, waiting 1/2hour, and then breathing into tube again! I had the little buggers, so had a 2 week long course of antibiotics, which I was guarenteed would stop the burning (and there was no point testing for ulcers, as eradicating the bugs would get rid of all ulcers). Mind you, this is my local $hitty hospital I'm on about.

I think to test for ulcers, they stick a Hi-8 Digicam up your bum with no lube and maneouveur it until they find your stomach, and then they look 'round for any ulcers, before removing camera via your mouth (I think!)

Yeah, quite recently they found that most ulcers are purely bacterial.

That's what it felt like Mind you, I had both ends attacked, and I can't say it was a blissful experience

Yup.

Only Pariet works better IMHO.

(and it's Omeprazol without the extra "e" )

Tell her I told her I know better then (Pariet works more selective than Zantac. Of course, they both work, and are both harmless)
