Thumbs up Nightwish

Did anybody else go to the Gig last night at Hammersmith? i have to say it was the best i have been to in the last couple of years including the Offspring a couple of weeks ago and Alterbridge i saw earlier this year. Real energy and a great set just wish they had stayed on stage longer as they have so much material to play.

The female singer is fit as well

Forget Nightwish, try Lacuna Coil instead (recommend Comalies).

Bought the album with "Nemo" on it and played it a few times...hasn't been back on since....just too much....opera? for my liking.

Now if we're talking Dragonforce, Avenged Sevenfold, or Trivium that's a different matter but no eye-candy

Nemo is a good album but I have to be in the mood and can't usually listen to the album all the way through - it is a bit opera-ish !

Bought Dark Light by HIM yesterday, and giving it a good listen

Worthy albums this year -

Strapping Young Lad - Alien (truly awesome!)
System Of A Down - Memerize (follow up to be released shortly)
Fear Factory - Transgression (bit experimental and the production sucks *****)

Keep meaning to pick up Chimaira/Chimaira and Mudvayne/Lost & Found

I love thrash/death metal but can't get into Trivium, great singing voice but don't understand the screaming part (along with all these clone bands like Alex Is On Fire etc)

My Chemical Romance appear to be quite cool (depsite hating all this US kiddy punk-pop)

Phil, agree with you re: Trivium, not sure why they have to scream, they are very talented musicians and don't need to follow the pack. Bullet For My Valentine are similar and I expect their album to be a bit special (have it pre-ordered on Amazon). Mudvayne's Lost and Found is very good -- I had it on the Cd player for a couple of weeks no problem Haven't yet tried Chimaira, and what I've heard from Transgression seems a bit "same old, same old" although the reviews suggest once you get past the first couple of tracks it all changes.

I came accross Nightwish on holiday listening to the Soundtrack Channel (STC). Nemo is used in the film 'The Cave' and is shortly to be released here I think.

If you look on Nightwish's website you can download parts of their songs.

The Nightwish albumn "Once" has been in the CD changer for about 4 weeks now so is doing well. Tried Dragon Force but to much for me not a fan of Thrash and that type of Metal, Off to see an old Favourite later this year Dio!

Saw Offspring the other week as well that was OK.

Funny, I'm going through a re-thrash stage at the moment -

Metallica - Master of Puppets/...And Justice For All
Megadeth - Countdown to Extinction
Testament - The Ritual / Low
Obituary - The End Complete : Remastered (my fav death metal album)

Aah, them were the days!

Some of Metallica is good

I tend to go through phases as well and at the moment it is a mix of Nightwish, Tristania, Within Temptation and Lucana Coil with old Peter Gabriel Genesis, a few weeks ago it was Soil, Butterfly Effect, Saxon and Rush before that Iron Maiden, Clannard, Him, Alterbridge and Rainbow and AC/DC

Always trying to find new music but it is difficult to hear stuff with out buying it as the Radio stations in London dont play good music and i spend a lot of my day driving.

You have my dream job, just not in the UK!

I bought HIM's "Dark Light" and have to say that after 3 or 4 plays that I am very disappointed. It's not that I don't like the album, it's just that I was expecting more, much more -- too much commercialism, no progression whatsoever lyrically, a watered down band IMHO...a weak album in comparison to "Love Metal". Sorry, but I'll be putting Dragonforce or Trivium back in the CD player whilst I wait for Amazon to deliver the Bullet For My Valentine and Tokyo Dragons CDs...a bit of FONY wouldn't go amiss either!

NIGHTWISH are the best Metal band Ever in my eyes.
Their music is just amazing and powerful (not bass or volume)

My favorite album is Once
Favorite song is Dark Chest of Wonders

I was thinking about going to the gig, but never got around to buying the tickets
