Apparently people in USA are really getting pissed off at having to pay over 2.50 (dollars) a gallon. I was sent these today from a friend over there.

Ultimate diesel and unleaded must be well over a quid a litre on the motorways now. I filled up today with Esso diesel and paid 99.9, and the garage were charging 99.9 for regular unleaded too!

What I find frustrating is that when my Dad ran petrol filling stations in the late 70's and through the 80's, when there was a price war or fuel shortage the price varied by 10ths of a penny per gallon. Now it seems to vary by 8-9p per litre, or almost 41p per gallon Isn't it funny how we've come to accept being ripped off to such a degree

Perhaps the director of the Mad Max films was on to something

I do a fair bit of driving in Kent and Essex. My local garage near Tunbridge Wells is doing 95 Ron at 93.9p. However, Shell in Sevenoaks is doing unleaded at 88.9p and BP in Westcliff, Essex (and Tesco in Hadleigh too I think) are doing their's at 87.9p.

I obviously try to time my fill-ups between where I know there is a better price because at 6p a litre difference I could be paying an extra £240 a year!
