They're really good - if you know how to use it properly
I've got an I-Trip. It's a simple case of choosing a TOTALLY empty radio frequency........

I had an iTrip and it was fantastic, got a bit patchy when I drove from Toronto to St Louis as there were stations broadcasting on the frequency I was using, but a quick change and it worked perfectly again
They are not legal in the UK due to a wireless and telpohony act. Think that it's something to do with the fact that you are broadcasting a signal on a FM frequency and in the UK you need to have a licence to do that.
Of course, the range and power of an iTrip isn't going to overpower and stations operating on the same frequency, so it should never really be an issue.
I've now got a blitzsafe hardwired cable. It's fits into the unused changer port on the car and provides a standard RCA audio in connection. Much better quality than the iTrip, for obvious reasons.
I could have got an IceLink but I did not really see the point as I don't have steering wheel mounted controls for anything other than volume control, and the iPod sits in a cradle which is closer than the stereo, plus I like being in total control of the ipod fucntions and I'm not sure the icelink allows you access to everything, though I could be wrong.
