Question Suitable birthday present for a 6 year old girl?

I am rapidly becoming an expert on toys for 2 year old toddlers, but have'nt a clue when it comes to 6 year olds.

She's got every possible Harry Potter item, but I'm sure there are other certain toys that are all the rage ATM

I don't want to ask the parents as I like them to be just as intrigued as their daughter as the present is opened.

Any suggestions?

My daughter's 6 and she would probably like a trampoline

Failing that, just go and get lots of little things such as pens, pencils etc. Anything pink goes down a treat, so perhaps get lots in a certain range such as Barbie....

Do they have a DVD player? If so, what about a DVD?

I suppose it depends how close you are to the child. What's the budget?

Bratz.

They're taking over the world.

Well, they're doing a damn fine job of taking over our house. Bratz, Lil Bratz, Baby Bratz, Big Baby Bratz, Effin' Bratz!!!

She'll still appreciate anything Princess-themed. If you have a Disney store nearby, you'll be spoilt for choice. Keep it pink. Do NOT buy a bag of any sort - everybody does that. Think castles and you won't go far wrong.

Mine is 5 atm, and we've been through the toys/batteries trauma. We're now looking at things that will stretch her imagination - puzzles/colouring & painting stuff, activity-based toys.
She plays with my XBox, and has her own PC (and she CAN use it!!), but I don't really allow her much use on it, apart from school work or learning programs.
Next year or maybe later this year (), as my youngest will be 3, we're looking at a trampoline between them both or bigger bikes/trikes.

We've just bought her "Operation" great for hand-to-eye co-ordination About £15 too
