Today parked on the hard shoulder where the A41 joins the M1 a white van with flashing orange lights was parked. it had a turret on top of it with small blacked out windows that looked like they would house cameras?? It didn't have any markings. Any idea what these are for? Motorway maintenance/surveillance? Or mobile speed camera? It didn't set my Road Angel off.

SAw something similar on A34 near Oxford.
White transit parked up.
Looked like a dark rear window at rear, but narrow, with cameras pointing out.
Very hard to spot.
Lucky I was behind someone.
Appears to be set up to measure speed as you approach.
I.e. takes front picture.
No turret just plane looking van.and some red/orange markings as far as I can remember.
