Serious advice needed please
Need some serious advice please
If someone hasnt paid money to the CSA and it goes to court and cant pay i believe they will be sent to jail. Is that right?
The total amount owing is 8000
They are asking for 3000 now and then he would not have to go to jail.
But what if he pays that and goes on the doll.
He will not be able to pay the 5000 back straight away as he will be on the doll.
Will they then be able to put him in jail because he cant pay the extra 5000 straight away?
Please anyone who knows any answers, help

I've had ALOT of dealings with the CSA and they do have a ridiculous amount of legal power BUT do tend to over state their position sometimes.
If some one has been purposely ignoring the CSA for some time regarding payments then the CSA will threaten the non payer with imprisonment as a last resort and will actriely pursue that person through the courts VIGOROUSLY.
If the CSA have been unable to trace the person and threaten with legal action at 1st contact ........ ignore it, as this will be scare tactics.
They cannot and do not pursue a person if they do not have the means to pay. If someone is unemployed it is too much hassle for the CSA to pursue them.
If the person has been/is employed, the CSA can trace that person through tax/N.I.records and will issue an order for the persons employer to pay the CSA direct b(Employer has no choice or they will be face legal action). This happened to me while I was contesting my CSA payment, I had to pay the full amount direct out of my wages via this order for over a year until my payments were sorted properly.
The 1st thing to do is request a face top face meeting with a case officer at the local DHSS office. They MUST allow the person to do this, and this will keep them at bay as it will be viewed that the person is taking active steps in sorting the matter out.
Without knowing the full history is is hard to know the circumstances of the case you mentioned.
Visiting the Citizens advice Bureau may help, but to be honest dealings with the CSA are so complicated that a Solicitor is the best bet. It could cost but the CSA will and do lie to people, and in my case it took a solicitor to sort my case and get several thousand pounds refunded to me which had wrongly been claimed.
There are also a few web sites that offer advice regarding dealings with the CSA which are useful.
I could go on for a long time on this subject ..........but will leave it there...... GOOD LUCK!!

The CSA is wrong - they don't take correct consideration for the ex-partners costs of living. I wonder though, did he not offer maintenance before she went to the CSA? Or perhaps he was just looking to ****''a''slag and got more than he bargained for?
