Unhappy I should have stopped to help tonight.

On my way back from fishing tonight with my little lad, I whizzed past a bloke who - I realised after I'd passed - was holding up a tow-rope and waving for assistance. His vehicle was down a muddy track, but I just kept on going. the further I went, the more I realised how much help I could have been (with the AWD), and how much of a tosser I was for not stopping and helping.

What would you have done?

In this day and age when stopping to help can allegedly land you in jail or in danger I would have carried on.

It is a sad day and age now, NO i wouldnt have stopped unless there where other people about, the best option would have been to phone the police and let them help him out.

Was having this conversation the other day, its bad but if i saw a woman stopped, either broken down or trying to change tyre, etc i would not stop. There are too many evil people in the world nowadays, spoiling it for the majority of us who would like to lend a hand now and again.

I even feel bad writing this, but self preservation these days.

^ what he said especially when you had LF with you.I saw a lost bunny just half hour ago through the window on our street. He was looking well happy with one ear down and one ear up hopping about like an idiot.I went out to secure the barsturd but he was acting dangerously towards me.I thought of informing the owners but I havent got a clue who owns the ******!So,i just phoned the police and they were yawning as if to say"ya ya! we will do something about it".
So, basically, sometimes even when you do wanna help, you cant!
What kinda world do we live in!

PS- BTW,it wasnt "Pink Bunny" coz it was black!

<sensible head on>

If I was in my Landy, Yes I would have stopped as I have a 200ton rated steel rope in the back, and not really bothered if I do any damage towing out the stuck car (as long as I can still get home).

However, If I was in any other car, I wouldn't stop.

I have previously lost a whole front bumper (almost 3 times actually) on the Land Rover whilst being towed or towing sombody else. Something that is easily fixed with a sledgehammer and the MIG welder However on a car, not a chance in hell - anybody ever see that mpeg (US or canadian) of a car being pulled out the snow, only to have the whole rear of his car tear off?

That's good advice, that Ali. I did start to feel a bit heavy-eyed part way through, but after a brief doze I felt refreshed enough to carry on till the end.

You taught your son a valuable lesson tonght... Dad's a tosser.

Here's the giveaway...

>His vehicle was down a muddy track

You'll need to do a few good deads to get yourself back on track.

Kinell... he's learning that far too quickly as it is!

I wanted to help. It would have shone out, as does a good deed in a naughty world*

I would have stopped and helped ............ it could be me tomorrow and too many people believe all the bogie-man stories they read in the papers and here on ScoobyNet!!

I'm as big a nutter as they come anyway .............

But, I would always stop to help - be it a child, woman or bloke in trouble!!

Lifes too short to be selfish!!

I believe it's the law to stop in France. I saw a car spin off the road once, very gently, at least six cars stoped and we pushed him back onto the road. No one except the bloke who went around the corner first ripped off a bumper, nor was anyone subjected to an **** probe.

You're right, Jack. I felt guilty, which was why I posted the thread.

Then again, I've got breakdown/recovery insurance, and MY first call would have been to them, not relying on the possibility of my fellow man having read the parable of the Good Samaritan.
