hows much would around 4m of 1/2 steel box section cost ish? gunna make a small go cart for the summer hols

12mm solid square is around £10 for 6m from a steel stockist, 25 mm box section (sorry only price i have as a guide) is around £15 for 6m.....

I'd build it out of 1"/25mm minimum. 1/2" will be super flexi

I used 3mm wall 25mm sqaure tube for mine. I think I paid around £18 for 7m.

You should ask for a 'tonne rate' as the lump sum prices youve been paying take the ****.

Work outr your cutting list first, you'll probably find you can get what you need in short offcuts a lot cheaper than lengths. I'd also echo what's been said above, 1/2" box is going to have to much flex in it, if it even exists, I'd say use a minimum of 20mm sq.

alternatively use cold drawn round tube again 20mm minimum, it's stronger than it's equivalent square section.
