Default No employment contract.

If you have worked for a company for six months do they have to give you a contract. Girlfriend has been with a company 3 months through an agency 3 months probation and three months now after the probation period has finished. In total 9 months with the same company and still no contract. Having pushed the point today they have said that they want her to work at another site which at the moment has been a disaster zone and causing lot of problems but since the only incentive to travel an extra 30 miles is a travel allowance she is not that interested. They seem to be subtlely suggesting that she wont get a contract until she moves there. My question is can they withhold a contract until she moves or is there a law stopping this behaviour ?

indeed, it is acondition of employment that a contract be issued..

check the emplyment rights section on the dhss site i thing it is

There's a fixed time period (28 days?) within which you should be given a statement of the principal terms and conditions of your employment.
