I've been given a good quality s/h carpet by my sister from her bedroom and i want to put it in a spare room.Its hessian backed,is there any simple way to clean it.Washing up liquid and a stiff brush?Will it shrink if it gets wet.

Its not really dirty,but it was a bedroom carpet so its just a question of hygene.

the best thing you could do mate is to give it a good cleaning before you fit it in,thats providing the carpet isw big enough to fit your spare room in one?

you can buy antibacterial carpet cleaners which should do the job.

If you have a VAX use that, if not beg borrow or steal one, failing that you can hire carpet cleaning kit for a reasonable price, our local co-op super market does it.

Don't want to hijack the thread but if anyone can tell me how to get pink windowlene out of a wool carpet I'd appreciate it
