Default No Tax

Did a search but to no avail. Wanted to know the likely penalty if caught on the road when vehicle declared sorn.
Reason for asking is mate has a crappy old vauxhall cavalier he left in a car park the other day and got a ticket on it, for not having tax. Whats he likely to get ??

I breifly caught the end of a program about this the other night. They caught one guy with a crappy car without tax. They gave him the choice of paying circa £200 or having it towed.

Could not tell you anymore though as I was channel hopping....sorry.

Fine of up to £1000, plus the cost of the back tax.

Local councils regularly do this; its quite legitimate although wtf it has to do with parking control I dont know. Theres little that can be done really (by the DVLA, though they may try) as the vehicle hasnt been used on the road, its been left in a car park, how it got there cant be established. He will have to bite the bullet and pay the local authority's charges though (unless theyve failed to mention this in their displayed terms).
