Question Navigation system - sorry if it's SIAL!

Father is retiring this weekend and I'm keen to buy him an in-car navigation gadget (GPS and pan-European). Don't want a fitted one as he'll be using it in different cars so something that is plug and play and can be updated on a regular basis would be ideal.

Any recommendations (and potential on-line vendors) gratefully received.

Cheers

Gordo

Personally I'd get one of the Tomtom GO variants. I have the "Classic" one (and the PDA version) but now there's the 300, 500 and 700.

Try www.totalpda.co.uk or Amazon.

Blimey - TomTom Go700 is £550 - are they worth the money?

Are the PDA variants (around £300) a viable cheaper alternative?

Personally I hate the PDA variants, too much hassle, they aren't robust enough and sometimes can be a bit buggy.

But the Tomtom GO 300 is only ~ £360. Might still be able to get a classic for less than this, too. But then you would have to pay for the V5 maps.
